CENTENARY CAMP

Leicestershire Scouts Centenary Celebrations

HUGE thanks to everyone who contributed to the final track that we played at the weekend!  We hope you enjoyed the recording sessions and had fun despite the rain.  Congratulations to those groups who hurriedly wrote lyrics while waiting to record (Wolves especially!), great work!  We were really pleased to have 4 complete verses, one from each subcamp in the end.

We're glad that the church provided a safe haven from the rain on Saturday and Sunday, but hope that it brought you a lot of fun and entertainment too.

We tried to use all the vocals, crashes, bangs, hoots and squibbles that we could and in the end we used over 100 samples gathered from the workshops over the weekend and used them in the 'premiere' version that was played at the closing ceremony.

However...

We still have lots and lots of material still to go thru and over the next couple of weeks we will be sifting thru all the remaining material and trying to work it into the final CD release version of the track.

We hope to have the final CD & download versions ready in about 2-3 weeks, so keep checking back here, or on the scoutshop websites for more information.

Particular apologies however are due to a group of the Curlews who performed a very funny and frankly insane version of 'Wimoweh' called 'In the subcamp'  -  after checking the copyright status of Wimoweh, we have found that it still has active rights on it and therefore we sadly can't release a recorded version of the song without infringing copyright.  As we want to release the CD commercially to benefit the Scout Association, we can only release original material.

'Get Ready, Be Prepared' was written by paul davies, but is being released to the Scout Association to use freely for fundraising.

snippets of the the 'world premiere' version of the track played at the closing ceremony will be posted here in the next couple of days.
