Recording without the big red light

A few years ago, we were asked if we could come and bring some recording equipment to do a little demo at somebody’s house in Birmingham. At the time, we had a small Roland 16ch VS1680 machine and it worked ok, but editing was a nightmare.

But we got a bug for recording outside of the safety of the studio and over the years have constructed a much better mobile recording facility, which fits in the back of a small car, but uses the same software and recording interfaces as our static studio, meaning an almost seamless workflow from location to base.

Digital technology, good mic techniques, portable acoustic treatment and lots of experience mean that we can get results in the field nearly every bit as good as those in the studio. Some artists don’t like the studio environment, they’d rather kick back somewhere less formal or out of the way and write and record. Some folk find it difficult to travel but we’d still like to work with them, so the studio goes to them! Some events want recording facilities (like gigs or festivals or even scout camps!) but won’t fit in or can’t travel to the studio.

We like recording on location, it’s a challenge we enjoy, so if you have a nice cottage with better sofas and coffee than ours - we’re on our way!

£22/hr + overnight expenses + mileage (though we are happy to accept ‘hospitality’ accommodation rather than hotels)
