studio rates

These rates are published to give you an idea of our charges, please note that we are always happy to discuss longer projects or novel ideas!!! We may also be able to organise 'last-minute' bookings at reduced rates for those who are able to travel to the studio quickly.

A standard 10 hour day includes an engineer (usually paul d) and usually starts at 10:00 am and finishes at 8.00 pm, though flexibility is up for discussion. This includes breaks for the engineer of 5mins per hour (either in blocks or every hour) and a 1/2hr break for lunch, this is for your own good as ears get tired!!!

Set-up and breakdown time is not included in this time unless set-up delays are caused by the studio, in which case we will make sure we add on 'injury time' (either on the day or as credit time). Breakdown time is assumed to take less than 30 minutes otherwise it may be necessary to charge for an extra hour (at discounted weekday rate of £15p/h)

It also includes the use of all the studio gear as listed on our main page. If there is something you wish us to bring in specially, then this may be possible. We usually require one week's notice and all hire and shipping charges will be payable by the client. A quotation will be supplied before ordering.

Please note the costs associated with CD Master and copies as noted in the table above.

Tea, coffee and other beverages will be supplied free-of-charge for band members and at nominal cost for any additional visitors. Block booking clients will not be liable for refreshment costs.

Clients should bring small snacks to keep them going throughout the day, however, there are local shops nearby where more substantial meals can be purchased.

There are a number of local B&B style hotels nearby and a Moat House and Ibis Hotel for the more flush! We can make bookings on your behalf with the B&B if so required, subject to their normal terms and conditions.

Bookings should obviously be made as far in advance as possible, however, minimum times are as follows:

Single day bookings - one week notice

Blocks up to 4 days - one month's notice

Week bookings and longer - by arrangement

A 10% deposit in cleared funds will be required on booking. All fees are to be settled before the end of each day (except by arrangement for longer blocks). All data and master media will remain the property and copyright of tbm until cleared funds have been received.

for invoiced work, tbm requests that any due payments be settled within 7 days. tbm reserves the right to levy an additional late payment charge for delayed payment of 5% per week (cumulative & uncapped) until payment is received.

Sometimes cancellations are inevitable and we will try and be as understanding as possible, but for many reasons we do have to make some stipulations - but please - always talk to us. Again - as much notice as possible is tremendously appreciated as we can offer the time to another client. The figures below relate to bookings of less than four days - for block bookings please email us for specific arrangements, but these figures will still be a minimum.

Up to one month - 10% payable

One month to one week - 50% payable

One week to two days - 75% payable

Day before - 100% payable

If for any reason tbm needs to cancel your booking, your entire deposit fee will be returned and any fees you have already paid for the cancelled time. You will also be credited in time to half the cancelled time on top of the cancelled time.

e.g. if we have to cancel two days, we will return all fees paid for the two days including deposit, and when we reschedule, you will get three days for the price of two!

tbm shall not be held responsible for damage to, or theft from vehicles parked on public highways or off road at tbm. we shall not be responsible for theft of any property left unattended outside our premises.

visitors are advised to keep their belongings with them at all times and lock cars when unloading.

tbm reserve the right to recover the cost of repair or replacement of any equipment damaged by clients howsoever it shall occur. this extends to the connection of client equipment connected to the tbm system without specific direction of tbm staff. malicious damage or theft of tbm equipment, property or premises by clients or anyone associated with clients will result in full damages being sought by tbm; the immediate cessation of recording sessions; withholding of all media and non-return of any funds already paid.

tbm staff will always be courteous and helpful to all its clients. tbm expects that clients and entourage behave in a similar manner and reserve the right to suspend or finish a session should tbm staff deem that client or entourage behaviour has fallen below acceptable levels. however - please note all tbm staff are experienced musicians and so we know what things can get like when creative juices run warm - we will always do our best to help alleviate a situation.

tbm have a zero tolerance on drugs - any evidence of drug use on site, in the environs or if sessions are suspected of being undertaken under the influence of drugs, the session will be stopped, cancelled and no refunds given.

no smoking is allowed in the tbm buildings - smokers are invited to either nip outside or take a short walk in the park nearby or hoof to the local shop and bring everyone back some sweeties.

artists and guests are not permitted to consume alcohol on studio premises. artists and stressed out studio engineers are encouraged to investigate the local pub for essential creative breaks!

any breach of the above conditions will result in the cessation of recording sessions and probable cancellation of booked time with no refund.

all the above conditions apply to both artists and any guests they bring. please be assured that tbm staff and session workers are also expected to abide by the above conditions at all times.

there's not much you need to know about recording at tbm, but we do have a few simple and logical 'house rules and info' about things like where you can eat and drink, a few obligatory health & safety requirements etc, location of the loo and other vital info. these can change from time to time so we will go through them with you when you arrive and you will have them on a little card so you won't have to remember anything except how to play the demented 9th in the middle 17 of the opus in 5/8!
